The purpose of my work is to make something beautiful. Most of my products are made to order by visitors in person, by telephone or email. Personal contact and the discussion on subject, pattern and colour means that unique items form the majority of my work and set challenges resulting in the creation of a truly individual piece. My work is mainly influenced by my imagination and the encouragement I receive from the people around me and, above all, the memory of my best friend who passed away from leukaemia in January 2010. I think of him the most when I am working; I remember how positive and determined he was and so my patience grows for the hard work that can be involved in making my pieces. My Home and work Making creative textiles has long been a passion of mine and I take comfort in knowing that I am making my dream a reality as I work in my quiet studio in Wendron, Cornwall. I express life's experiences through the creative processes using traditional and contemporary techniques. My business name Hebasca is a Cornish word meaning comfort, which is fitting bearing in mind my Cornish roots and the fact that my pieces are essentially for 'the home' which is an environment synonymous with comfort. Handmade with love in Cornwall When I work on a piece, I channel my mind towards becoming absorbed in the process of making. Ideas emerge in my imagination and I think about how to construct them and which material/media combinations to apply. I endeavour to create one-of-a-kind, uniquely designed crafts and hope that you will love them as much as I do. |
